What our equipment collection service covers
Our collection service is set up for busy sites where time, access and storage space matter. We arrange the uplift of hired items after the work is complete, whether it is compactors from a paving crew in Beacon Bay, scaffolding from a repaint in Gonubie, or party gear from a weekend function in Kidds Beach. The aim is simple: remove hired equipment promptly, check it in properly, and free up your yard, driveway or venue without extra admin.
Collection can include light tools, plant, access gear and event items, depending on the original hire agreement. We also handle items that need a bit more care on the way back, such as generators that must cool before loading, pumps that need draining, and scaffold parts that must be bundled and counted. If the equipment was used in coastal conditions, we inspect it for salt exposure and residue so the return record is accurate.
- Collection from homes, construction sites, warehouses and event venues
- Removal of generators, compactors, pumps, scaffolding and party equipment
- Basic count and condition check at uplift
- Sign-off for completed hires so your paperwork can be closed out
How the collection process works
Once you tell us the hire is finished, our team books the uplift and confirms access details. That includes gate codes, site contact names, parking space, and whether the item is on a first floor balcony, in a back yard or behind a locked storage area. For larger loads we plan the right vehicle and crew so the collection does not hold up your next trade on site. If there has been load shedding or a power cut at the venue, we can still work off a basic collection instruction and sort the admin once we are back in signal range.
- Step 1: send the collection request by phone or email
- Step 2: confirm equipment list, access and preferred day
- Step 3: our crew arrives, checks items and loads safely
- Step 4: we complete return notes and close the hire off
For event collections, we can work after bump-out times so tables, lights, fencing and generators come back once the guests have left. For sites in Qonce or Port Alfred, we plan around road access, weather and traffic so the uplift is handled with minimal waiting around.
Turnaround times across East London and the coast
Most local collections in East London, Beacon Bay and Gonubie can be arranged for the same day or next working day, depending on what needs to be uplifted and how busy the schedule is. For Kidds Beach, Qonce and Port Alfred, turnaround depends on road time and the size of the load, but we keep things moving and communicate clearly if a window changes. If a site needs urgent clearance because a contractor has finished early or a venue must be handed back, we do our best to fit an emergency uplift in.
Heavy or awkward items may need extra time for safe handling. Scaffold towers, plate compactors and larger pumps are usually easier to collect when they are stacked, cleaned down and ready at ground level. If the equipment is still wet from rain or coastal spray, it can take a bit longer to secure properly for transport, especially on open trailers. We would rather take ten minutes longer than recieve damaged gear back on the road.
- Same day collection possible in East London metro areas, subject to route planning
- Next day collection common for standard hire returns
- After-hours collections can be arranged for events and shutdowns
- Weekend uplift available by prior agreement
Pricing approach for collection and uplift
Collection charges are worked out from distance, equipment type, load size and access. A small pump from a business in Beacon Bay is not priced the same as a full scaffold stack or a trailer load of event furniture from the beachfront. If the item needs dismantling, draining, sorting or extra labour, that is factored into the quote before collection is booked. We keep pricing plain so you know whether the uplift is included in the hire period or billed separately.
For regular contractors and repeat event clients, we can structure collection around weekly, fortnightly or end-of-project returns. Long-term hires are often managed with scheduled pickups, which helps with site clearance and keeps hire records tidy. Where multiple items are coming back from one address, we can combine them into one trip to reduce costs. The sooner you let us know the end date, the easier it is to plan the most affordable route.
- Local uplift rates for short-distance returns
- Quote-based pricing for larger plant, scaffold and bulk event gear
- Extra labour charged only where dismantling or handling is needed
- Combined collections can reduce the total cost per item
Checks we complete before equipment leaves your site
Before anything leaves your premises, our team does a practical check so the return is clean and traceable. We look at visible damage, missing parts and obvious wear, then compare the item against the original hire list. For powered equipment, we check switches, cords, hoses, fuel state and any signs of overheating. Generators are assessed with enough cooling time so there is no risk during loading. Pumps are checked for water left in the housing, and scaffold items are counted in bundles so nothing goes missing in transit.
These checks help avoid disputes later and they keep your next hire easier to plan. If we find an issue, we note it on the collection record and let the relevant contact know before leaving the site. Coastal humidity can leave gear looking worse than it is, so the inspection is practical and fair, not fussy. The point is to close the hire properly and protect both your team and ours.
- Visual inspection for damage or missing parts
- Fuel, water and cable checks where relevant
- Basic count of scaffold pieces, event items and accessories
- Condition notes added before equipment is loaded
Maintenance intervals and return handling
Returned equipment goes back through our workshop and prep area on set maintenance intervals, not just when something is clearly broken. Light tools are cleaned and tested after each hire. Compacting machines, pumps and generators are checked on a scheduled cycle that may include oil level checks, filters, belts, starting controls and running noise. In the coastal belt we keep a close eye on corrosion, especially after rainy weeks or jobs close to the sea.
Items used on longer hires are checked more closely once they come back, because wear builds up over time. If a machine has had repeated weekend use or has been working near dust, sand or moisture, it may be taken out of circulation for service before the next booking. This is one reason prompt collection matters: it gives us time to inspect, clean and service the equipment before the next customer needs it. Good turn-around keeps the fleet dependable and reduces delays for everyone.
- After-each-hire cleaning for light equipment
- Scheduled servicing for powered plant and pumps
- Corrosion checks after coastal or wet-site use
- Workshop sign-off before the item is reissued
