Why people stay with Coastline Hire
We are a local hire business with a hands-on crew and a steady flow of work for builders, event organisers and contractors across the Eastern Cape coast. Some days are spent loading compactors and generators, other days are about scaffold planning, party equipment checks, or sorting a late callout before a job starts.
People who do well here are punctual, careful with equipment and willing to learn. We value clear communication, neat paperwork, and respect for customers and team members. The work can be physical, and it can also be detailed, so you need to be switched on from the first job to the last.
The kinds of roles we hire for
We take on people for different parts of the business, depending on what the workshop, yard, office or delivery schedule needs. If you have experience in hire, logistics, events, mechanical work or customer service, we want to hear from you.
- Hire counter and customer support roles
- Delivery and collection drivers
- Workshop and maintenance assistants
- Scaffold and site setup support
- Events hire and layout support
- Fleet, stock and yard coordination
Experience helps, but attitude matters too. If you can follow instructions, keep accurate records and work safely around equipment, there may be a place for you on the team.
What the work involves day to day
Depending on your role, you may help prep generators for weekend hire, check pumps before delivery, load and offload equipment, or brief customers on safe use. Some shifts start early for construction sites in East London, while event jobs can run into the evening in Gonubie, Kidds Beach or along the coast.
We also deal with coastal conditions, so care with rust prevention, cleaning and storage matters. In summer, humidity can affect gear quickly, and during load-shedding customers need reliable support. That means a good hire team has to think ahead and stay organised.
What we look for in applicants
We are not looking for perfect CVs. We are looking for people who are dependable, willing to learn and able to work with a busy team. A practical approach goes a long way.
- Good communication and customer manner
- Basic admin or record keeping ability
- Respect for tools, vehicles and site rules
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions
- Interest in plant hire, events or workshop work
- Own transport is useful for some shifts
If you have worked on sites, in logistics, at a hire counter, or in events setup before, include that in your email. If you have not, tell us what you have done and why you want to work in hire.
How to send your CV
Email your CV to hire@coastlinehire.co.za. Please include your full name, contact number, suburb or town, and the type of work you are looking for. If you have a licence, forklift training, scaffold experience, event setup experience or mechanical skills, mention it clearly.
You are also welcome to add a short note about when you are available to start and whether you are looking for full-time, contract or seasonal work. We review applications as they come in and keep suitable CVs on file for future openings.
Where you may be based
Our base is in Beacon Bay, East London, and we support jobs across East London, Beacon Bay, Gonubie, Kidds Beach, Qonce and Port Alfred. Some roles are yard based, some are out on the road, and some combine both. If you live nearby and can get to work reliably, that is a plus.
The team includes Siyabonga Mhlabeni, Annelise van der Merwe, Luyanda Gqoba, Megan Petersen, Themba Ndlovu and Nokuthula Dlamini. Each person handles a different part of the operation, so new staff need to fit into a business where timing, teamwork and customer care matter every day.
